Honey And Cinnamon - Cure All

Bet the drug companies won't like this one getting around! Nature's Bounty tells us that a mixture of honey and cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also accept honey as a "Ram Ban" (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases. Honey can be used without any side effects for any kind of diseases.
Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients. Weekly World News, a magazine in Canada, in its issue dated January 17, 1995 provided an insight into the diseases that could be cured by honey and cinnamon as researched by western scientists:

Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply on bread, instead of jelly and jam, and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient from a heart attack. Those who have already suffered an attack should follow this process daily, which would keep them miles away from the next attack. Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heartbeat. In America and Canada, various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as you age, the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalize the arteries and veins.

ARTHRITIS Arthritis patients can daily morning and night take one cup of hot water with two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. If taken regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured. In a recent research conducted at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon Cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week, out of the 200 people so treated, practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain, and within a month, mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis started walking without pain.

Two tablespoons of honey and three teaspoons of Cinnamon Powder mixed in 16 ounces of tea water, given to a cholesterol patient, was found to reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood by 10 percent within two hours. As for arthritic patients, if taken three times a day, any chronic cholesterol is cured. According to information received in the said journal, pure honey taken with food daily relieves complaints of cholesterol.

Take two tablespoons of cinnamon powder and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm water and drink it. It destroys the germs in the bladder.



Walk your way to a healthy life

The old saying an apple a day keeps the doctor way has lost its meaning now. If you take it literally, only eating an apple everyday can give some kind of nutrition, but if you don't have a balanced diet combined with exercise, you can end up with some disease or the other. These can limit your daily activities, cause mental tension and in turn affect your work too.

According to me a few general body exercises a day can keep you fit and fine. But you should know what kind of exercises to do, when and how. The simplest form of exercise is aerobic exercise. That doesn't mean you have to switch on the television and follow all the exercises performed by the young models on the screen. These have their own benefits. But do you actually have the time to do these? Besides, if you do not do them the right way you may end up with some other problems like aches and pains.

The safest form of exercise is walking. All of us know to walk, as it forms an important activity of our daily life. But how many of us ever walk outside our house or our office. Work has taken so much of our time and vehicles have made it easy to commute from one place to another that we actually don't need that most of us do not walk for more than 10 mins a day with of course many breaks in between.
So how is it that walking can keep you going till the end of the day? Walking involves the major muscles of your legs and also your trunk to some extent. These muscles pump up blood to your heart and help in better functioning of your heart pump.

Once you put these muscles to work, you will realize that you feel energetic.
There's a lot you can do to help yourself, starting with the right sort of exercise.
Walking as an exercise:
·    Keeps your joints mobile and reduces joint pain
·    Increases your muscle strength
·    Prevents joint deformities
·    Maintains and increases your ability to perform daily tasks
·    Increases your general and Cardio-vascular fitness and sense of well being
·    Helps to minimize the effects of osteoporosis.
·    Helps to keep you weight in check and prevent obesity.
·    Helps develop a positive attitude and healthier lifestyle.

But there are some precautions to be taken to make it a beneficial exercise without any side effects.
Wear proper, comfortable shoes with soft insoles and firm outer soles. Soft shoes are the best. Do not try walking in heel shoes or shoes with hard soles.
Walks are best if done first thing in the morning, or in colder climates, evenings are better. But make sure you do it on an empty stomach or at least 2 hours after meals. Diabetics should take care not to walk at least half an hour immediately after taking your medication especially those on insulin. They could also have a small fruit or biscuits in between.

You should walk a minimum of about 30 mins to a maximum of about 60 mins, but increase the time gradually over a few days and not suddenly. Brisk walking is the best. But always start with 4-5 mins of slow walk (warm up) followed by 20 mins of brisk walk and then again slow done for about 4-5 mins (cool down) before you stop.
Walk in a clean and green, pollution free environment. Some people say that they walk to work everyday, but if this involves walking on busy, crowded and polluted main roads, it wont help to a great extent. In turn you would end up having some respiratory problems.

For those of you who cannot really walk daily can make it a point to walk atleast thrice a week.
Also some of you may think that walking on a treadmill will help, but again the time and the protocol needs to be decided by your physiotherapist to prevent you from being victims of some other problems, especially if you are above the age of forty and not aware of your body's general exercise capacity.
For those of you who have Cardiac problems like High blood pressure or high levels of cholesterol, or any other major diseases, you may need to consult your Doctor and Physiotherapist for the correct regime of exercise for you.

If you have any doubts regarding the kind and time best suited for you to walk you need to consult you nearest Physiotherapist who would do certain tests to determine your exercise capacity and then decide the right regime for you. Walking is the simplest form of exercise, which can be followed regularly by people of all ages, young and old. All it needs is the right and positive attitude towards life, with a little time.

I like the 'Walk when you talk' campaign launched by IDEA. It has initiated a wave of awareness on fitness, across the country. However you need to remember that talking on your mobile while exercising is not good.

Take Care Of Your Back

In today's fast paced world, many of us have no time to take care of our own health. I have come across many people who come with long-term back pain, neck pain and even whole body pain. Even youth are not spared nowadays. They seem to have weird complains. But is it that difficult to take some time for our own well being? If we do things right the first time, then we will not fall prey to such situations.
Our ancestors were used to a lot of physical activity. Even for their daily food they had to work hard. But with the advent of technology, everything is available for us at our doorstep. We don't have to work that hard. 90% of the world's population leads a sedentary lifestyle, which includes working at the desk or computer for 9 or more hours per day. There is nothing wrong in such a living, but it is up to us to make the most of it and take care of ourselves.

Our spine is made up of 4 different curves. In the neck the spine curves forwards, in the Trunkal region it curves backwards and then again forwards in the lower back and finally curves backwards lower down just above the buttocks. These curves are maintained by the proper alignment of the bones of the vertebral (spinal) column and the muscles and ligaments attached to them. If there is a problem in this alignment by wrong postures or by weakness of the muscles, we get a backache.

The lower back supports the weight of the head neck and trunk. So there is a tremendous amount of load on this part of the spine. This load is at a maximum when sitting, then standing and least when lying down. Hence those who sit for prolonged hours in the same posture tend to have backaches. If a wrong posture is maintained for even more than 30 minutes, we begin to feel uneasy, so we slouch even more, because that gives us some relief. But in the long run this leads to more load on the spine as the muscles are relaxed in the wrong fashion and contribute to abnormal forces on the spinal column.
Is there a way to prevent backache? Is there any cure for back aches? There are a few simple precautions we need to take in order to prevent being victims of this problem.

·    While sitting on a chair, sit behind in the chair taking full support of the backrest. Do not lean forwards or too much backwards. The angle of the backrest should be between 90° to 110°.

·    See that your legs are ahead of you with your feet resting on the floor or a stool. The legs should be supported and not left hanging in the air.

·    Keep a small cushion in the chair lower down at the angle of the backrest with the seat to support your lower spine.

·    Keep your hands on the armrest of the chair. They should not be stretched out too far ahead, as this may make you lean forward.

·    If the chair you sit on at work is not comfortable, please ask your employer to have it changed. Remind him that good posture and health lead to better productivity.

·    Do not sit for more than 40-60mins in the same position. Every 40mins you need to get up from the chair and stretch your hands and feet a little.

·    The best exercise to do is to raise both your hands straight in front of you and take them above your head and then lower them slowly.

·    Sleep on a firm mattress. It should not be too soft so as to sink in, nor too hard. Cotton mattresses or those with coir and foam will be very useful.

·    The best way to sleep is to sleep on one side, instead of sleeping straight on your back. This will prevent any extra strain on the back muscles.

·    Use a firm pillow, about 2-3 inches thick, especially when you sleep on your side. This will prevent your neck from bending down too much to one side.
I'm sure following these simple guidelines will keep you on the road to a good posture and help you avoid backaches. Those who already have this problem from many years should however consult a spine surgeon and a physiotherapist for proper personal treatment. Some may need surgery and some only exercises. This needs to be decided by the surgeon. You can still follow these guidelines in addition to your treatment. Treat it now before it is too late.

Avoiding Emotional Overload

Human life is a complex of both emotions and reason. if our lives were just governed by one element alone life would be senseless. if we are guided by emotions we are like animals, if we are guided just by reason we are too much like feelingless zombie. we have to counter balance both that is why God has give each one of us these two faculties both emotions and reason. some of us have been trained in one and then the emotions have been made to understand.

We know when we were small children most of our lives were governed by emotional tantrums, but gradually these were somehow channelised by reasoning that is why our elders used to tell us when we reached the age of reasoning we were responsible for our actions. Often on many do not grow and allow these faculties to be guided. Often it used to be the religious leaders in the times when they were the whole sole guides but now ther are doctors, psychertiest, emotional guiding cousellors who can direct people now every thing has become so organsied often there is no room to grow naturally.

The systematisation of these faculties are good as well as bad. because parents do not have time to mould children in their natural orientation all these stressful moments. Let us hope the society becomes aware of the old value of family bonds. where grandparents taught children the valued of the societie.
