Parishioners of St. Patrick's Church plant Trees

Kanpur:- As part of the Sesquicentennial celebrations (1860-2010) of St. Patrick's Church, Kanpur (150 saplings were planted by the parishioners in the Cantonment cemetery this morning. The parish celebrated the day as Environment Sunday.

Colourful flower bearing trees - Gul Mohar, Laburnum and Casia were obtained from the nursery of the Forest department. It is hoped that they will add grace beauty and shade to the cemetery.
Rev Eugene Mascarenhas, Parish Priest, exhorted the parishioners to assemble in large numbers at the cemetery to participate in the tree plantation drive. He blessed the saplings, assisted by is co pastors Rev Edward Goveas and Stephen D'mello. He especially thanked chhotebhai Noronha, Omi Srivastava and Sebastian Dungdung for their support and co-operation. The sisters of St. Mary's Convent, ST. Patrick's Convent, Shishu Bhawan, Jacob Chandran, Daniel Joseph, Rita Singh, Joseph Lal and the youth of the parish enthusiastically participated.
