Poetry Day by Kavitha Trust

Kinnigoli : -'Poetry is not lonely. Good poetry always speaks with its readers!' said Kannada writer and poet Chidambara Baikampady here at Yugapurusha Sabhabhavana, on Sunday Aug.29. He was speaking as a chief Guest on the occasion of Poetry Day , organized by Kavitha Trust.
Hemacharya, Editor Daijiworld Weekly, lit the lamp and inaugurated the event. 'When I walk through the old street of Kinnigoli, Surrounded scenic beauty poetry takes birth on its own. Kinnigoli was once a major hub for Konkani poetry. This particular event will give rise to a new era and bring back the lost glory in the Konkani literary field he said.
Richard Moras, Convenor of ' Konkani Kutam', Bahrain, Sri. Bhuvanabhirama Udupa, Editor Yugapurusha, Kinnigoli, Mr.K.G.Mallya, Ex deputy General Manager, Syndicate Bank were present on the dais.
Young poet Wilson Fernandes, Kinnigoli presided over the youth poetry session said that ' a poem cannot be poetic unless its creator feels so. There is no set rules and regulation as to compose a poem' he said.10 youth poets took part in the session.
Jossy Pinto Kinnigoli also presided over a poetry session whereas some of the well Known poets recited their poems.
Alphonse D'Souza and team from Niddodi entertained the gathering by the traditional Gumtan folk songs. Melwyn Rodrigues President Kavitha Kulvar welcomed the guest and gathering. Walter Dantis proposed vote of thanks. Victor Mathias , Trustee Kavitha Trust compered the programe.
