Mangalore:-Ursuline Franciscan Educational Society, Derlakatte had organized training in Save Mother Earth to the Headmistresses of all Ursuline Franciscan Educational Institutions in Karnataka under the congregation of UFS at Somarpann, Deralakatte on August 22, 2010.   The master-trainer Rev. Dr Ronald Cutinha of Samanvaya highlighted the need of protecting environment especially through afforestation and avoiding the excessive use of plastics. Depletion of Ozone layer, acid rain and solid waste management were explained through PowerPoint presentation. He provided the statistical data on global warming and its future effects.  He said that, "the over use and wrong use of natural resources is the main reason for their depletion. Plastic toxic has polluted air while burning, resulted dangerous to fish in sea and caused hazards while in the soil by blocking the water from penetrating the earth".  The slogans on environment protection made the training lively.   Sr Lilly Pinto welcomed and introduced the resource person. Sr Leena Mascarenhas proposed vote of thanks. 41 H.M.s arrived from various parts of Karnataka State benefited from this training.  Sr Lilly Fernandes the secretary of the Ursuline Franciscan Educational Institutions was responsible to organize this event while the Superior General Sr Doreen D'souza blessed the programme by her presence.
