Mob Attacks Christian Pastor In Chitradurga
BANGALORE, Karnataka :- A Christian preacher was allegedly attacked by a group of Hindus during a prayer and worship service held in a church in Chitradurga district, August 8, reports reaching here said.
According to Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC), a rights organisation based in Bangalore, a 20-strong mob of religious extremists, purportedly belonging to the Barjrang Dal and Sri Rama Sene outfits, stormed the Gypsy Prarthana Mandira church near Maharani College, Common Badavane, Chitradurga, around 10.30 a.m., attacked Pastor Hema Naik, tore up the Bibles and also charged on the believers.
They falsely accused the preacher of converting children to Christianity.
Pastor Naik runs Gypsy Children's Home, a hostel for 50 poor children, in Chitradurga.
The mob then dragged the pastor to the Chitradurga Town police station where the cops detained him. Some pastors and believers, who rushed to the police station, were also assaulted by the radicals. Six of them, including Pastor Shibu Issac of Indian Evangelical Mission, suffered minor injuries, GCIC reported.
Later, GCIC contacted the Superintendent of Police, Labhu Ram, who directed the local police to take necessary action. Pastor Naik was taken to hospital for medical examination and released at 4 p.m.
