To usher in the Christmas spirit, St Francis Xavier Church, Panvel had organised a zone wise Carol Contest for the children of all faiths on Sunday, 18th December from 5 to 7 PM. There was a carnival atmosphere with 7 groups of children from various sectors of Panvel competing with one another for the coveted Trophy. Though it was a competition, there was true Christmas spirit of love, joy and peace. This contest brought out the best in the children and the trainers – the melodious voices, team work, creative actions and simple but meaningful costumes. At the end of the day, the Topper of the contest is Infant Jesus Community, the SC (Small Community) No. 4. When Fr Felix Rebello, Parish Priest declared the results, there was a great applause to the Winners of the Trophy.  To share the real Christmas spirit, Santaclaus gave away prizes to all the groups. More than 100 children participated in the contest, in the presence of a large audience
