Konkani Group Malwani stages 'Matharo Chorbela"

Konkani Group Malwani staged a Konkani comedy play Matharo Chorbela written by Francis Fernandes-Cascia and directed by Joy Paladka on 15th October 2009 at St. Anthony's Church Ground, Malwani.

Prior to the start of drama there was a short stage programme at which the writer Mr. Frnancis Fernandes-Cascia was honoured in a traditional way with flowers, fruits and shawl on the occasion of his 50 years completion on Konkani stage by the Chief Guest Mr. Gilbert Baptist, Chairman Malaika Co-op Society Ltd., and Malaika Appliances.

The other dignitaries present on the stage were Mr. V. P. Lobo, MD, T3 Urban Developers P. Ltd., Mr. Lawrence Coelho, Editor - Divo Konkani Weekly; Rev. Fr. Ajit Bandekar, Parish Priest of St. Anthony Church, Malwani; Rev. Fr. Philip D'Souza; Rev. Fr. James D'Costa, Principal; Mrs. Lavina Pereira, Vikhroli; Mrs. Louisa Pereira, President, Konkani Group Malwani; Mr. Charles Saldanha, Secretary; Mr. Gregory Veigas, Treasurer and Mr. Felix D'Souza, Malwani, Cultural In-charge.

On this occasion Konkani Group Malwani also honoured its most active member Mr. Felix D'Souza, Malwani for the his active role in the association and in the parish. He was honoured by Mr. V. P. Lobo, on behalf of the association.

Later a cheque of Rs. 25,000 was handed over to the Parish Priest by the President and Secretary of Konkani Group Malwani as its small contribution towards the church redevelopment contribution.

The programme was well attended and packed to the capacity and the comedy play entertained the entire audience. There was a lucky draw on entry passes sponsored by Malaika group and Canara Herbal Hair Oil co.
