Priests in Mumbai are using the internet for the Catholic missal and to fine-tune their sermons.

“Some of them are also using the iBreviary,” said Fr. Nigel Barrett, assistant editor of Catholic weekly, The Examiner.

The iBreviary is an application that has brought the book of daily prayers used by priests on to iPhones.

Developed by Fr Paolo Padrini, a consultant with the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Social Communications who also developed the iPad missal,  iBreviary has been downloaded by over 2,00,000 people worldwide.

Many parishes now have websites of their own, some of which are interactive. The clergy is also increasingly using email and SMS to send out messages to parishioners.

The city priests are also eyeing the Vatican-approved iPad application that encompasses missal.
