The ‘Year of Caring for Creation’ organized by the Archdiocese of Bombay last year (2010) has not ended with slogans and awareness. It continues in various forms in various places.

Here is one more project in this connection held at St Francis Xavier Church, Panvel. With an aim of inculcating the nature friendly living, the PANVEL BUDS (group of children consists of altar servers and children Lectors) were given an opportunity to participate in the ROBUST PLANT CONTEST.

During the first PANVEL BUDS meeting for the year, each child was gifted with a Kadipatta sapling (Curry Leaves Sapling), along with fertile soil and a plastic pot.

The children were told to take the best care of this plant.  As per the contest rule, they cannot use fertilizers or any chemicals. They will use only organic manure like compost produced from the kitchen waste. After about 6 months, there will be a contest to see whose plant has grown robust. The top few winners will get the prizes.
