Christian Community finally receives burial ground in Vasai after several decades of struggle and thanks Chief Minister for the same.

The Christian community in Vasai has finally been alloted land for a cemetery after decades of struggle. Their efforts have finally paid off due to the intervention of the Chief Minister Shri. Prithviraj Chauhan who gave the order on 10th June 2011 after receiving their petition from the undersigned.

All these years the Christian community in Vasai had to travel such long arduous and tedious distances to the cemetery at Sewri in Central Mumbai and Oshiwara in the western suburbs, hence incurring the inconvenience of unnecessary expenses in the process and this new development has now won them the long term respite which they have sought for over several decades.

The Christian community expresses thanks to the Minister of Minority Affairs, Shri. Naseem Khan for persistently following the matter with the concerned authorities which has now resulted in this respite. I trust that the same will also apply at the earliest in other places where the matter of allocating burial grounds to the Christian community are still pending such as in Kandivali, Thane and several other districts in Maharashtra.

The least that a human being can expect from the State is for a place where he can be interred with dignity.
