Mumbai:- Konkani Bhasha Mandal Maharashtra, 68 year old premier Konkani Institution in Mumbai celebrated the Konkani Recognition Day at 5.30pm on 21st August, 2010 at Karnataka Sangha Hall, Matunga, Mumbai.

Advocate Pius Vas was the Chief guest and Shri C. V. Nadkarni, CEO of The North Kanara GSB Co-op Bank Ltd was the Guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion Adv Vas recollected few meaningful and melodious Konkani songs and narrated the richness of the Sweet language. He urged the audience to use Konkani in their houses.

Chief Guest handed over the Pratibha Puraskar Awards to children of the members who excelled in Sports and Studies. Guest of honour Shri C V Nadkarni gave away the prizes to the winners of the Talent Contest held in July, 2010. The Shield for maximum participation went to Sacred Heart Church, Mahakali, Andheri East. Shri Victor Concessao, who trained the children was honoured during the function.

Kum Ainish Mathias started the function with Prayer dance. There were jokes from Shri Dolphy Menezes and Navin Kulshekar. Kenny enthralled the audience with his scintillating dance numbers. GRAF presented "Vantte" a skit written & directed by Rio Roza while Women's wing of GSB Sabha, Andheri West presented the skit "Vastryan ki Titkayan?" written and directed by Shrimat Vasudha Prabhu. The programme concluded with delicious Konkani dinner

Shri P. N. Shanbhag, President of the Mandal welcomed the gathering. Shri J. B. Moraes, Chairman in his key note address shared his feelings while Shri John D'Silva, Vice president proposed the vote of thanks. Gen. Secretary of the Mandal, Shri Lawrence D'Souza-Kamani Compered the programme.
