Celebration in Mira Road, St. Joseph's Church
St. Joseph's Church, Mira Road, tenth-anniversary celebration events created unprecedented enthusiasm in the Small Christian Communities all over Mira Road. A score of St. Joseph's Church, Parish Clergy team, the Parish Council Members, the Parish SCC Project Coordinator, Area Coordinators and all the SCC Coordinators and Animators as well as the proud Community Members of the 50 Small Christian Communities in Mira Road witnessed the Parish tenth-anniversary celebrations.
AN Organizing team of "Perfect 10" led by our Fr. Dominic Vaz - Parish Priest, Fr. Deepak Thomas - SCC Director and Fr. Ivan D'souza - Asst. SCC Director, put their minds and hearts together to creatively plan the celebration of the Decennial year. Bearing in mind the zeal and enthusiasm shown by the parishioners during the Inter-community sports in 2004 and Inter-community cultural events in 2007 and 2008 and the urge for more such events received from the communities time and again, it wasn't too difficult to finalize the "Mega Sports and Cultural Events 2009-2010." Yippee!!!!!!!!!! We had 46 out of 50 communities participating in these events. Hat's Off to all the Community Coordinators, Jt. Com. Coordinators, PPC Members, Animators and all the community members for your support and co-operation. It would not have been possible otherwise. With these events, we have achieved what we wanted!! Say the team members. Participating, reaching out, meeting people, communicating with one another, helping out, teaching, learning bringing individuals closer to one another...displaying all hidden talents... thus bringing clusters together... thus bringing communities together and on the whole bringing every family of the Parish together.
The sports and the cultural events held were viz. Rink Football, Volley ball, Throw ball, Individual Drawing, Group Poster, Group Craft - best out of waste, Group, dance, Group Singing, Enacting the Crib and Bible Quiz Competition. The events commenced in October 2009 and the concluding and the Prize distribution ceremony for all the events were held on the 30th December 2009. The participants carried home Trophies, medals, certificates and a lot of joy and happiness.
